Outstanding Contributor
Award presented by
Cynthia Barnhart, Provost

This Excellence Award for Outstanding Contributor goes to Paul W. Barone. Paul is the Co-Director of Biomanufacturing Initiatives at the MIT Center for Biomedical Innovation. He also heads an academic-industry consortium focused on preventing contamination in the manufacture of biotherapeutic drugs.

However, we are celebrating him today for contributions he’s made over and above his technical expertise. Paul, his colleagues say, is a masterful leader, capable of moving groups of individuals forward on complex projects. Time and again, he has proven himself to be an outstanding manager, an inspiring motivator, an adept collaborator, and an action-oriented team member. If you want things done, they say, call Paul.

One of Paul’s colleagues shared this with us:

“Paul is an excellent technical manager of complex multidisciplinary efforts. Most importantly, he supports and elevates everyone else’s contributions. I wish there were more Paul Barones in the world!”
