Prescription drug prices continue to climb. To help address these costs, MIT has engaged Scripta to help reduce out-of-pocket costs for plan members and for MIT.
MIT employees and their dependents who are enrolled in an MIT health plan are automatically eligible for this voluntary, no-cost program. Scripta is free to use starting January 1, 2027, but registration will be required.
MIT does not have access to your prescription information, and only you can access your savings reports. Scripta is HIPAA compliant, and your personal health data will remain private and protected.
See details about the program in the FAQs below.
About Scripta
What is Scripta?
Scripta is a no-cost prescription savings benefit included in your health plan. It helps find lower prices for your medications by comparing costs and identifying savings opportunities.
Scripta is not a pharmacy, mail-order service, or a drug plan, and it is not replacing your current health plan pharmacy coverage. Instead, it works alongside your existing pharmacy benefits. Scripta can save you a significant amount of money on prescriptions, and some members may save as much as 100% on certain medications. Using Scripta is optional. You choose how and if you want to save.
How does Scripta work?
Scripta analyzes your prescriptions and identifies potential savings based on the MIT health plan option you selected. Once you sign up, you will receive personalized monthly savings opportunity reports by mail or notifications by email/text that detail lower-priced options and steps to save (e.g., coupons, different pharmacies, or switching to a lower-cost clinical alternative with your doctor's approval). Only your medications with alternatives will display on your savings opportunity reports. You will have 24/7 access to your opportunities through the Scripta app and website.
Scripta pharmacists/member advocates may contact you to offer personalized assistance if you have high pharmacy costs with cost savings available. You can manage your communication preferences in the Scripta app/website settings. If you don't receive a savings report, it likely means there are no savings available for your current prescriptions.
How do I sign up for Scripta?
The Scripta Insights app is the best way to see current savings opportunities and exclusive offers. On or after January 1, 2027, download the app or visit the Scripta website to register for a free account. You can download the Scripta Insights app directly from the Apple App Store for iOS devices or the Google Play Store for Android devices.
You can view your savings report and any exclusive offers within the app. Print your savings report to take to your next doctor's visit and talk to your doctor or pharmacist about potential prescription changes. Eligible dependents over 18 can create their own accounts.
How is my information protected?
Scripta is HIPAA-compliant and keeps your information confidential. MIT does not have access to your medication information. You can manage your communication preferences in the Scripta app/website settings.
