BCBS

BCBS TrueCare 360 Advocacy and Care Management

Get help navigating the healthcare system.

Dedicated Blue Care Managers and Service Advocates will help you and your family coordinate care and access to services for complex cases, find resources in your community, and understand claims and billing. 

How it works

If you need clarity about your claims, coverage or benefits, call Team Blue Care Service. They’re here to:

  • Explain the plan information so you can make decisions
  • Help you find doctors and hospitals within your plan’s network
  • Answer questions about a bill you’ve received from your provider
  • Show you additional benefits and resources that your plan or employer offers

Additionally, Team Blue Care Managers are registered nurses, mental health specialists, wellness coaches, and other health care professionals. They’re here to help you understand your condition, medications, and treatment plan, and they can coordinate care. They’ll help you:

  • Manage a complex or chronic condition such as diabetes, heart disease, or cancer
  • Make informed health care decisions
  • Clarify information from your provider
  • Access inpatient and outpatient mental health care
  • Find maternity and postpartum support
  • Set health goals for weight loss, stress management, tobacco cessation, and more

2nd.MD

Connect with nationally recognized specialists from the comfort of your home.

Effective January 1, 2025, this virtual expert medical consultation and navigation service is available at no cost to MIT employees and their eligible dependents age 18 and older enrolled in a BCBS health plan.  

How it works

When to use 2nd.MD

When dealing with illness, injury or chronic pain, 2nd.MD makes it easy to get a virtual expert medical consultation. 2nd.MD can help when you have medical questions like:

  • Do I have the right diagnosis?
  • Am I on the best treatment path and medications?
  • Is this surgery or procedure the best option for me?
     

What kind of conditions can 2nd.MD help with?

2nd.MD experts are industry leaders across hundreds of subspecialties and thousands of conditions, including:

  • Knee, hip, ankle surgery
  • Cancer
  • Heart disease & stroke

2nd.MD Specialists

How to get started

Beginning January 1, 2025, if you are a member of an MIT BCBS health plan, you will be able to:

  • Activate your account and request a consult
  • Speak with a nurse: Explain your medical issues, and an experienced nurse will handle the rest, including collecting medical records and connecting you with a leading specialist who is an expert in your condition.
  • Get information about your diagnosis, treatment plan and next steps in care from a nationally recognized specialist. Consult via video or phone at a time that works best for you, including evenings and weekends.

Hinge Health

Digital exercise therapy for anyone living with muscle and joint pain.

Effective January 1, 2025, Hinge Health is available at no cost to MIT employees and their eligible dependents age 18 and older enrolled in a BCBS health plan.  

How it works

Hinge Health's digital exercise therapy benefit program offers personalized care plans and coaching, You'll have access to tools to overcome muscle and joint issues from head to toe – including back, knee, pelvic pain and more. Programs are designed to help you reach your health goals, recover from injuries, address pelvic health issues, and stay healthy and pain free.

Enjoy unlimited access to your personalized exercises and stretches developed by physical therapists, plus convenient exercise sessions you can do anytime, anywhere, using the Hinge Health app and dedicated 1-on-1 support from a physical therapist and qualified health coach.

How to get started

Beginning January 1, 2025, if you are a member of an MIT BCBS health plan, you will be able to:

  • Complete a 10-minute questionnaire to open your Hinge Health account and report your experience with pain. Once your account is open, you can log into the app.
  • Build your care plan—do a few exercises so Hinge Health can learn about your pain and design the right care plan.
  • Start your program and start feeling better! As your pain improves, so does your care plan—with new exercises and tools to help you move with confidence.
