The following programs contribute to a robust MIT support system for employees who need time off for health and medical reasons.
Leaves of absence
MIT provides paid leaves to most employees when they are unable to work due to injury, serious health conditions, or maternity. Eligible employees may also take paid leave to care for a family member with a serious health condition or for bonding with a new child. The policies differ for benefits-eligible staff and for non-benefits eligible staff.
