Next, I'd like you to meet Richard S. Hilton, Jr. He is Associate Dean and Director of Residential Services, and our next Serving Our Community honoree. His colleagues say that he has transformed myriad dimensions of the residential housing universe at MIT. "In a land of exceptions," they say, "Rich's ability to maintain fairness and consistency is no small feat."
Rich has worked to strengthen partnerships among academic communities, student groups, administrative departments, Institute support services, and external partners. He has streamlined processes and enhanced support systems. During the pandemic, he has collaborated across MIT to manage the integration of new security procedures—and to make sure that on-campus isolation spaces are meeting the needs of quarantining students.
In short, if there's a way to improve residential life at MIT, Rich is on it!
