Timothy Lloyd

Gallery Manager
List Visual Arts Center
Award presented by
Vice Chancellor Ian Waitz

In a year of outstanding Outstanding Contributors, I’d like to introduce you to another. The first is Timothy Lloyd. Tim has been the exhibition designer and gallery manager at the List Visual Arts Center for about 18 years. And he can assume a good deal of the credit for the List Center’s acclaim in the contemporary art universe.

The List Center has an ambitious schedule—seven exhibitions a year—and it oversees the much-celebrated campus public art collection and faculty loan program. Tim manages and maintains these collections, designs and implements exhibitions in close collaboration with curators and artists, manages the Bakalar, Hayden, and Reference galleries. maintains the campus-wide permanent collection
manages a staff of installation technicians, and prepares artwork to be shipped around the world.

His colleagues came together to nominate Tim for this award because they believe his devotion to the List Center—and to MIT—is unparalleled and his work ethic, an inspiration to all his colleagues. As one of his coworkers put it, “Tim works harder and smarter than anyone on his team. The result? Artists often say his was the best installation of their work anywhere.”

Another colleague shared: “Tim is respected internationally—a tribute to the level of talent and problem-solving ability he has shown at the List. I am proud to work with him.”

Congratulations to Tim Lloyd for his Outstanding Contributor award!
