MIT Medical
Award presented by
Chancellor Cynthia Barnhart

Our next Outstanding Contributor is well known to both staff and students at MIT. His name is Shawn Ferullo, and he is Chief of Orthopedics and Student Health at MIT Medical…as well as Chief of Sports Medicine. His colleagues say that Shawn leads by example in all his interactions - that he is dedicated to helping others be their best selves at school, at work, at home, and in the community.

Shawn serves as a leader for many different clinical teams and as a clinician providing direct patient care. He also collaborates with the Office of Disability Services to ensure that all students can be successful in the classroom—even when they have serious medical issues. His colleagues shared stories of Shawn’s dedication, including this one:

“What makes Shawn special is his commitment to always go the extra mile for students, faculty, and staff. He attends every home football game and sees nearly every student-athlete who suffers an injury, when he could easily assign the task to others. Shawn cares for the well-being of all those around him and makes the MIT community stronger with every interaction—large or small.”

Shawn – congratulations on your Excellence award!
