Erin Schenck

Assistant Director, Senseable City Lab
School of Architecture and Planning
Award presented by
Eric Evans, Director, Lincoln Laboratory

The final Excellence Award in the Bringing out the Best category to Erin Schenck. Her former colleagues from MISTI nominated Erin because she has moved to a new position in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, and they want her to know just how much they valued her 10 years at MISTI.

If you don’t know MISTI, it stands for MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives, a collection of 24 country-focused programs. MISTI prepares more than 1,000 MIT students annually for learning experiences around the world. Erin directed the Germany-, Switzerland-, and Netherlands-based programs.

Erin’s MISTI colleagues were passionate about her nomination for this award because they believe that she had a transformational impact on the organization—and on her peers.

Let me share a bit of what they had to say:
“Erin’s decade-long performance at MISTI was a tour de force. She sought to streamline all programs and generated innovative solutions that were enthusiastically adopted by other program managers. Erin understood the politically and culturally sensitive nature of working with multinational organizations, and she navigated these engagements with stellar leadership and communication skills.”

The students Erin worked with chimed in, too:
“Erin influenced my MIT career more than anyone else. In fact, everyone I’ve met who was placed by Erin in a MISTI program had an amazing experience because she was so invested in our success.”

Let’s congratulate Erin for her Bringing out the Best award!
