Outstanding Contributor
Award presented by
Lorraine A. Goffe-Rush, Vice President for Human Resources

The next Outstanding Contributor we’d like to recognize today is Georgia Santander. One colleague described Georgia—a senior administrative assistant in the Office of Foundation Relations—as exemplifying that distinctly MIT combo brilliant but humble. Georgia, her coworkers say, is the glue that has helped to make and keep her group a true team, not just a random group of colleagues. She consistently goes above and beyond what is required of her to assist members of the OFR staff—or anyone else she thinks she can help.

During times of staff transition, Georgia without fail, takes on tasks unrelated to her own job. In addition, she has joined several committees dedicated to enhancing the working life of others, including the campus-wide Working Group for Support Staff Issues. She also took the initiative to launch the W98 Mothers Group—a group of about 45 mothers that shares parental experiences and even swaps clothing and toys.

Georgia, her colleagues say, is a powerful team member and an unusually gifted builder of community. She is the embodiment of the collaborative, high-performing, problem-solving culture that defines MIT and is truly an outstanding contributor. Congratulations!
