Dean for Student Life
Creating Connections
The Office of Community Development and Substance Abuse Programs (CDSA) enhances academic, social, and personal development. As its Associate Dean, Daniel A. Trujillo leads a coalition of area colleges, social service agencies, and MIT students and administrators. He belongs to the Cambridge Prevention Coalition’s environmental task force and the Cambridge Licensee Advisory Committee. He developed and implemented in student living communities the program called “Frank Talks about Alcohol”. Leading several grant projects, he brought CDSA over $420,000 in funding in the past three years and initiated an assessment of environmental factors that promote or prevent substance abuse. This year he coordinated an unprecedented agreement between fraternities and dormitories to have both communities support rush events that de-emphasize alcohol. Students might view such a Dean as an “alcohol czar”; instead, they recognize his unflagging support of their best interests and invite him to Friday dinners. Dedicated to improving student life, Daniel A. Trujillo excels at Creating Connections.
