This Serving Our Community award goes to a team of five:

- Joao Pacheco, Working Foreman
- Kevin Salazar, Custodian
They make up the Custodial Services Days Weekend Team, and their colleagues say they rarely get the recognition they deserve because they are often working when no one is around to see them. Yet, their efforts are essential and very often exceptional. When thousands assembled to celebrate President Kornbluth’s inauguration, the Days Weekend Team was continually in action making the campus comfortable for the thousands who came to celebrate.
And then there were the floods—multiple floods—when pipes burst because of bitter cold weather. Under foreperson Joao Pacheco, the team cleaned up thousands of gallons of water. Thanks to their quick reaction and thoroughness, the potential damage was dramatically mitigated.
As one colleague shared: “The Days Weekend Team is an excellent, cohesive team that should be recognized for their outsized efforts.”
