Salvatore Ieni

Associate Staff
Advanced Technology, Lincoln Laboratory
Bringing out the Best
Award presented by
Melissa Nobles, Chancellor

This Bringing Out the Best Award recipient is someone who exemplifies all those qualities—and then some. Salvatore Ieni joined the Lincoln Laboratory more than 20 years ago, and rose through the ranks to become Operations and Equipment Engineering Manager of the Microelectronics Laboratory.

Sal’s team includes 29 research, development, and technical personnel and six specialists across three shifts. Often, resource limitations, time constraints, and competing interests complicate his job, but his colleagues say that Sal’s ability to problem solve, communicate, and find mutually agreeable solutions is nothing less than incredible.

As one colleague shared: “Sal’s door is always open. His mind is always open. And his heart is always open. In my three decades in industry, I have never encountered a leader who so successfully joins solid technical capability with genuine empathy and a remarkable work ethic. Those abilities are the bedrock of the positive culture evident in our lab every day.”
