Are you worried about your child’s progress in school, but unsure where to turn? Confused by special education terms or nervous about labeling your child? You’re not alone. Special education services can be essential—but navigating the system is often overwhelming for families.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the essentials of special education law and how to advocate effectively for your child. We’ll break down the difference between a 504 Plan and an Individualized Education Program (IEP), explain the services that schools are required to provide, and help you feel more confident as a partner in your child’s learning journey.
After this workshop, you will be able to:
- Understand your child’s legal rights under special education law.
- Distinguish between 504 Plans and IEPs and their purpose.
- Participate more effectively in special education meetings and decision-making.
- Evaluate whether your child’s school is meeting their individual learning needs.
- Advocate for services and support with greater confidence and clarity.
