Student Support Services, Dean for Student Life
Fostering Community
As part of Student Support Services, this awardee also focuses on offering assistance to women students. She not only counsels and advocates for students but actively supports numerous student-led groups, clubs, and activities. Last fall, she helped establish two initiatives: the first mentors incoming first-year women in collaboration with the Association of Women Students. She trained mentors in effectively assisting freshmen, handling emergencies, and knowing how to empower versus take charge.

Another initiative, an eating issues discussion group with the Women's Independent Living Group, also lies outside her job responsibilities and shows her commitment to women from all over campus. By visiting this living group, she creates links between residents and resources the Institute provides. Her extensive hands-on support, direction, and impact far exceed the expectations of her role. She establishes successful programs with clear vision and fosters valuable student-faculty-staff links.

For her contributions to student life, we are pleased to award Lynn Roberson this MIT Excellence Award. Congratulations, Lynn.
