Financial Sytems Services
As we know, implementing SAP at MIT was a tremendous undertaking -one that required the fostering of cooperation and communication across departments in a time of significant change. As a leader of the Financial Systems Services Team, Wayne Turner has been pivotal in the effort to understand requirements, define responsibilities, marshal resources, and meet deadlines. He combines an extensive SAP knowledge with dedication to improving financial operations. As well, he is adept at unifying departments toward a common solution. Wayne performs quietly and without fanfare. He elicits respect from his customers and colleagues. He is approachable and reliable and is seen as an effective leader. He collaborates internally with multiple departments and has established alliances with other SAP organizations. This has provided MIT with a broader knowledge base and a cadre of external resources. Wayne has assembled a very capable staff . Each possesses a robust work ethic and a collaborative approach to tasks. Wayne challenges his staff to discover solutions, provide responsive customer service, resolve problems, meet deadlines, and expand their SAP knowledge. His ability to blend seamlessly the ambition and skills of each staff member into successful project teams has resulted in the loyalty of his staff and the confidence of senior management. The results of his efforts have been multiple and felt throughout the community. Among them are an:
- expanded customer base of 7 additional areas that use SAP for their financial processes
- a new quality assurance process to improve rigorous testing, and
- a trust among departments that allows achievement of common goals on behalf of the Institute.
To quote one nominator, the "Institute is certainly fortunate to have such a valuable asset as Wayne, but even more fortunate is each of us who work daily with him." On behalf of the MIT community, it is our pleasure to present Wayne Turner with an MIT Excellence Award for Working Smarter and Getting Results..
