Parenting Support

Work-Life has a number of resources to help parents support their children and themselves through the ups and downs of childhood and the teen years.

Backup child care

Benefits-eligible MIT staff, faculty, and postdocs (associates and fellows) can request up to 15 days of backup child care per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

Eligible MIT graduate students can request up to 15 days of backup child care per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) or date of graduation, whichever comes first.

Enhanced family supports

Beginning July 1, 2025, MIT benefits-eligible staff, faculty, and postdocs will have access to savings on a number of family and education support services.

MIT MyLife Services

MIT's employee assistance program, MIT MyLife Services, provides MIT faculty, staff, postdocs – and families – 24/7 access to a network of experts who are available to help with life concerns.

Parent coaching

Parents of infants through teens can sign up for a solution-focused consultation with a certified parenting coach.

Work-Life webinar series

Presented by Work-Life, these webinars provide research-based strategies, tips, and information to help you deal with a diverse array of work-life and wellbeing issues, including parenting.

TeenLife: Offers a free, comprehensive web directory of STEM, gap year, pre-college, overnight summer, and community service programs for students in grades 7–12.
