This individual is described as a dynamic and unique leader who possesses keen intelligence, a broad knowledge of her field, and an incredible generosity of spirit. Her leadership style is described by those who work with her as supportive, advocating, and empowering. This individual, Elizabeth Reed, leads by example and shares her vision and builds collaborative partnerships throughout the Institute.Since Elizabeth assumed the role of Director for the Office of Career Services and Pre-professional advising, she has fostered a commitment to best practices in the field of career services--as demonstrated by extending a broader array of resources and services to students who have career interests in traditionally less popular fields such as the public sector and non-profits.Elizabeth is also being acknowledged today for her volunteerism, serving as chair of the Work and Family Task Force on Job Flexibility. Elizabeth worked with hundreds of constituencies throughout the Institute to develop a set of guidelines for alternative work arrangements at MIT, including flextime, job shares and telecommuting, which contribute to making MIT a more inclusive workplace.
