Caring for a family member with an illness or disability or for an elderly relative can be an incredibly fulfilling experience. However, the demands placed on a caregiver’s time, energy, and emotional resources can be overwhelming. The impact of caregiving is far reaching, affecting various aspects of life, including practical, physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. Often, caregivers find themselves focusing so much on the needs of others that they neglect their own health.
This session will explore simple yet effective strategies for caregivers to improve their own wellbeing, offering practical tools for managing stress, enhancing self-care, and maintaining balance. By recognizing and addressing the unique challenges of providing care, caregivers can promote a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle while continuing to provide compassionate care for their loved ones, ensuring both their own and their family’s wellbeing.
In this session, participants will:
- Recognize the emotional impact of caregiving: Understand how providing care affects emotional wellbeing and relationships
- Identify strategies to maintain wellbeing: Learn practical methods for staying healthy while caring for others
- Build a personal wellbeing toolkit: Develop a set of tools to manage stress and maintain balance
- Explore available support systems: Learn about resources and support networks designed for caregivers
