How do I know if my child is eligible for the Children’s College Scholarship Plan?
To qualify, your child must be your tax dependent and attend school full time. Your dependent child is generally eligible to take advantage of the Children's College Scholarship Plan if you:
- work at least 50% of the normal full-time work schedule in your department, laboratory, or center
- are appointed to work at MIT for at least three months
- are paid by MIT
Retirees from MIT are eligible for this benefit under the same rules as active employees.
If you leave your job at MIT and later return, the amount of the grant available to your child will be based on your most recent date of hire, not your original date of hire. Visit MIT Children's College Scholarship Plan for more details on specific cases.
How do I find out if I am eligible for tuition or education benefits?
You are eligible for tuition and education benefits if you have been appointed to work at MIT for at least one year, if you work at least 50% of a normal full-time work schedule, and you are paid by MIT.
