Dorothy Ryan

Editor
Communications and Community Outreach Office, Lincoln Laboratory
Outstanding Contributor
Award presented by
Lorraine A. Goffe-Rush, Vice President for Human Resources

Our next honoree is a stellar example of an Outstanding Contributor. Her name is Dorothy Ryan, and she’s an extremely talented writer and editor at Lincoln Laboratory. Dorothy was hired in 2000 as a technical proofreader in publications, but it soon became apparent that her skills were considerably more extensive. Within two years she was promoted to editor, and over the last 16 years, she has shaped, expanded, and brought a new level of excellence to all major external communications.

Dorothy edited three technical volumes for the new Lincoln Laboratory book series and led the rehab of the Laboratory’s external website. She served as lead editor for the 600-page Lincoln Laboratory history book, directing a team of editors, graphic designers, and 40 technical staff contributors. And still, we’re just scratching the surface of her contributions.

One contributor noted that “Dorothy truly cares about the work that is being conducted at the Laboratory, and the image the Laboratory projects to the public, and the people who work here.” Dorothy’s byline is rarely included on her work, so many do not realize the depth and breadth of her stellar contributions. Congratulations, Dorothy!
