The first recipient of this award is a dynamic duo—Michael DiPalma and Brian Pierson of Sponsored Accounting, a group within the Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF). Staff accountants Mike and Brian head Billings and Collections with an approach that is positive and energetic. They have improved collaboration within their group and have worked to strengthen relationships with colleagues across MIT, who have applauded this team’s skill, energy, responsiveness, and transparency. Mike and Brian’s new approach has also resulted in dramatic bottom-line results. Since coming on board, account receivables at risk of being uncollectible has been cut in half on their watch. “Mike and Brian are a refreshing team,” one colleague observed. “I find them easy to work with and know that anything we do together will have a successful outcome.”
Together, Mike and Brian have made extraordinary improvements in the level of service they provide to their clients, and we are proud to honor them today with the MIT Excellence Award for Serving the Client. Brian Pierson will be accepting the award for the team. Let’s welcome him to the stage, everybody.
