Presenter Dr. Alison Alden:
“The director of development for the Physics and Math departments keeps a diverse group of clients extremely happy. These include donors, department heads, faculty members, alumni, other development officers, and many friends of MIT. It’s a tough job, but this awardee provides exceptional service—which the numbers support. Over the years, she has brought in more than 50 gifts over $100,000, including many major donations that never would have happened without her—from first-time donors and from people with no prior connection to MIT. Even while traveling abroad, she has carved out time to meet with alumni and make important contacts for the Institute. She plans trips, alumni events, and fund-raising dinners that always go off without a hitch. She is efficient and effective, a self-starter, and a pleasure to work with. As her nominator wrote, ‘MIT is unbelievably fortunate’ to have her.
