Presenter Dr. Eric Evans:
“This year we are delighted to honor a service staff member in this category—an animal technician in the Division of Comparative Medicine. This awardee is both a role model and a mentor to those who care for research animals. He patiently trains new employees in animal care and facility operations and supports his co-workers with both advice and assistance—fostering an inclusive, team-building environment and serving as ‘a true leader.’ According to one nominator, “His outgoing, caring personality helps motivate his peers to achieve departmental and team goals.” He has helped to implement a new computerized animal census system, and his many thoughtful suggestions have improved the cleanliness of the facility—something critical not only to the health of the workers and animals, but also to the success of the lab experiments.
