How can I prepare for this event?

This is an informal, drop-in style event. However, if you are considering your own career development, we do encourage you to:

I’m not looking for a new job right now. Should I still attend?

Absolutely! Even if you’re not looking for a new job, Careers Across MIT is a great opportunity to learn about how you can develop your career at MIT. It’s also an excellent networking opportunity for staff. You will meet staff who can tell you about career development resources and talk to MIT employees who have built their careers at the Institute.

Can I use this event to search for a job?

Of course! Many of the areas represented have open positions, and many others hire frequently, even if they don’t have open positions at this time. This event is your chance to network with hiring managers and HR professionals from many different areas across MIT.

How will I know which tables have open positions?

If you are looking for a job, we recommend starting your visit at the Staffing Services table. This table will have lists of open positions at the Institute, organized by functional area (e.g., financial, event planning, HR, etc.). We will also identify the tables that have open positions. This will help you determine the tables most beneficial for you to visit.

Should I bring my resume?

You are welcome to bring your resume to share with table hosts. However, you should remember that if you are interested in a particular job, you must apply online to be considered.

Can my department participate?

If your area is interested in hosting a table, contact Elizabeth Hawley at or 617-253-0497.

I have more questions. Who can I contact about this event?

Please contact Elizabeth Hawley (, 617-253-0497).
